Celebrating Pride
On June 28, 1969, the Stonewall Inn, an LGBTQ+ club in Greenwich Village, was raided by police. Patrons stood up to brutality and discrimination, sparking a six-day uprising known as the Stonewall Riots and igniting the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement. One year later, the first Pride marches were held, making this June the 55th anniversary of Pride. Let’s celebrate by supporting nonprofits advancing equity and inclusion!
